Locus rule says the degree to which you believe you have control in your life. There are two types of locus of control; the outer locus of control and the inner locus of control. Most importantly the key to stay motivated is to develop an inner locus of control. To achieve success stay motivated by locus rule. Now first let’s understand the locus of control and its types by the following example.
“Nothing in the world is ever completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.”Paulo Coelho
A study was conducted to study motivation levels. In it students were given puzzles and afterwards despite of their performance al were told that they scored A+. Afterwards these students were divided into two groups and one group was told that they were smart that’s why they solved puzzles and they were named as group 1. Remaining students were in group 2 and they were told that the reason behind their performance was that they worked hard.
Now both groups were again given easy and difficult puzzles and their result was following;
Outer Locus of Control
Group 1 students solved easy puzzles but for difficult ones they gave up.However they complained about their surroundings. In addition gave lame excuses for not solving the puzzles. These students thought that they were smart as a result what is difficult for them is not for them. In the same vein they gave up easily and it is known as outer locus of control.

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” Helen Keller
Inner Locus of Control
Group 2 students solved all the puzzles in the same vein. They accepted difficult puzzle as a challenge. Likewise worked hard until they make it happen. These students did hard work. AS a result they did not gave up. When they were asked about work then they replied that they enjoyed it and it is known as inner locus of control.
“Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.”
Roy T. Bennett
How to Stay Motivated?
Develop inner locus of control as its the best way to stay motivated.
Now the question is how to develop it?
Think about any of your deficiency or weak spot and make a little bit of research for its remedies and solutions. Above all act upon them and observe the changes that occur within you. Now remember all the changes that occurred is because of your hard work. Those who believe there are no limitations for they are the ones who work extremely hard and achieve their dreams. For that they stay motivated by inner locus of control.
“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.”
Roy T. Bennett
